International Friendsinternational student group serve grace vancouver church

The nations are at our doorstep. Fifty percent of our city’s population consists of visible minorities. Thousands of immigrants and students are coming to Vancouver from around the world to expand their opportunities. They are often hungry to learn, open to new experiences and extremely warm to reaching out and making new friends.

Throughout the Bible we are reminded to care for the immigrant and foreigner in our midst. Through sharing food, friendship, games, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter gatherings, and other such fun, Grace Vancouver has found a fruitful harvest in extending welcome to people of all nations whom God sends our way to love. These students have become an integral part of our life together.

The choir has made a full on intersection with the International Ministry; half of the choir are ESL students who are moved by the music and are eager to learn the meaning of the lyrics they sing. Many come to new faith in Jesus and return home with a gospel song on their heart.

If you’re curious to learn more about other cultures and meet new people, perhaps the international ministry is for you. If you have a heart for people, or want to learn how to talk about Christianity in plain terms, enjoy playing board games, like to host meals or just hang out, this ministry has room for you! Find out more and use our sign up form to let us know of your interest in helping to make the internationals in our community feel at home.

Even if you are not formally involved in this ministry, why not take time out to talk to one of the international friends and see what you may discover?
